Chipotle means literally "smoked chili pepper." Until recently, this pepper was largely found in the markets of central and southern Mexico. Not going to let our south-of-the border friends claim this one all to themselves, we have made this dip uniquely Texan. With a pleasant heat and distinctive smoky flavor, this one just might surprise you in the end!
Preparation Instructions: Mix package of dip mix with 1 cup sour cream and 1 cup mayonnaise. Refrigerate for at least one hour to allow flavors to blend. Mix can also be prepared with 8 oz. softened cream cheese and 2-3 tablespoons milk to the desired spreading consistency.
Additional Recipe Ideas:
1. Dipping Sauce for Sweet Potato Fries- Whisk dip mix with 1/3 cup sour cream and 2 Tbsp milk for a creamy yet smoky sauce.
2. Marinade fish in 2 Tbsp. olive oil and fresh lime juice mixed with dip mix. Great for grilling or serving on fish tacos.
3. Chipotle Cheese Dip - Add to chile con queso with 1 cup fresh tomatoes for a more distinctive flavor.
